Elite athletes are able to separate their hips and trunk while running at top speeds. This drill allows athletes to react to lights at high speed with torsional displacement.
Athletes moving laterally with change to vertical acceleration can be a difficult adjustment to make at high speed. The Light Attack helps athletes with this adjustment and properly train muscles and soft tissue to make this adjustment effortless.
The adjustment from vertical movement to lateral movement or change of direction with reaction creates real game situations for athletes. The Light Attack which is different than just using cones, creates this reaction and change of direction. In a game, athletes have to react to other players to dictate their movements. Having a preset course with cones does not allow the athlete to practice this reaction, but only allow performance to a preset pattern. By not practicing reaction, but only pattern is the nucleolus of injuries in game situations.
